The Challenges of Distance-Learning in the context of Covid-19 Pandemic: Proposed Solutions

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the most important challenges facing teachers of King Abdullah
2d School of Excellence/ Zarqa Branch who conducted distance learning during the Corona
Virus time, and then suggesting the proper solutions from the teachers' perspective. The
descriptive approach was used, and a questionnaire of (43) items was distributed, covering 3
domains: distance-learning challenges in (1) learning and teaching process, (2) infrastructure
and the skills of using the platform, and (3) the possible solutions available for facing the
challenges that appear during distance learning, then working out medians and standard
deviations for the purpose of identifying the participants' (47 teachers) responses, and then
conducting (Mann-Whitney U) test in order to identify the differences between 2 independent
groups. The study results revealed that all the items related to the challenges teachers face
during distance learning in accordance to the teaching-learning process had a median of (2.86),
with a medium difficulty-degree from their perspective. Items related to the challenge’s
teachers face during distance learning in accordance to infrastructure and the skills of using the
platform got a median of (2.70), with a medium difficulty-degree, from their perspective. Also,
the study found statistically- significant differences for these challenges from the teachers'
perspective for the favor of humanitarian fields, and all the proposed solutions got a medium
importance-degree in general, making them worthy of application.
