The Impact of Using Moodle to Create a Meaningful Atmosphere in Learning Essay Writing
This research aims at building a meaningful experience in essay writing through an innovative learning where the students are guided to have enhancement in writing. This is a qualitative research involving 16 participants in one group pre-post design. It used pretest-posttest to see the students’ achievement before and after joining the learning and a questionnaire to get information of the students’ responses toward the use of Moodle in the writing class. The data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the students got advantages of using Moodle on Essay writing course. The mean of the posttest was higher than the pretest. The questionnaire results indicated that the students showed the positive responses toward the use of Moodle in the course. The learning was meaningful for its appropriateness with the learning objective, students’ intake, and user friendly of platform. Therefore, Moodle is suggested to use by the lecturers to teach Essay writing for its strengths in fostering the students’ writing ability.
