Collaboration and Acculturation to Manage and Create Architectural Design of Giri Natha Temple, Timor Leste: The Architectural Harmony between Bali and Timor Leste

Abstract

Design of the biggest temple in Timor Leste, Giri Natha Temple is a symbol of friendship and bond between Bali, Indonesia and Timor Leste. This temple is designed as a landmark, spiritual and cultural tourism center. Therefore, the design management approach is to present not only the collaboration of the design process but also the acculturation of cultures. The idea approach of the collaboration is to combine harmony between local Balinese architecture and vernacular architecture of Timor Leste, by adopting the uniqueness of uma lulik architecture. The strength of this design collaboration is the ability of the designer team to harmonize the Balinese and Timor Leste architecture and supported by local delights as a building with earthquake-resistant construction.
