Development Strategy for Halal Tourism in West Sumatera ANP Approach

Abstract

Purpose – Halal lifestyle is now developing in the tourism group. The development of halal tourism in Indonesia is still far from expectations. The purpose of this study is to explore the problems, solutions, and strategies related to halal tourism in West Sumatra in terms of government, community and hotel groups, travel and food.

Design/Research Method – This research is qualitative research. The method used is the Analytic Networking Process using super decision software.

Findings – The results showed that the priority problem in developing halal tourism in West Sumatra was from the government aspect, especially related infrastructure problems. The priority solution is from the government aspect, especially related infrastructure. While the priority strategies that can be implemented are from the aspect of hotel, travel, and food, especially the improvement of hotel, travel and halal food.

Limitation – This research is preliminary research in mapping the problems, solutions, and strategies for developing halal tourism in West Sumatera

Implication: The development of the halal tourism model in West Sumatra is must be focused on solving the infrastructure problems. The priority strategy must be focused on hotels, travel, halal food aspects, and specifically prioritizes to increase in the number of halal food.
